Kid’s bedroom decor tips
The kids spend most of their time in their bedroom is a known thing. It is used to sleep, play and study, etc., so it is a given that their space should reflect their personalities while designing the decor of the kid’s bedroom.
Below are some kid’s bedroom decor tips that you can add while designing.
Choose a kid-friendly color palette without being too baby-ish
Go with tones of light color reflecting light. Make sure to choose a lighter tone of the same if you’re going to Blues and pinks or gray and yellow for that matter. To keep the ambiance of the kid’s bedroom decor vibrant, strictly avoid darker colors.
Highlighting the main feature wall
By doing so, you’ll have a wall that stands out in the whole room. For this one, you can go with a slightly vivid darker color while holding a white or a lighter tone on the other walls. Interestingly, as it won’t easily get dirty, you should postpone repainting it for at least five years.
Go with the furniture you like and not the kid
The furniture should be bought or designed for the future and not just for a couple of years. Once that furniture is outgrowing the child, you may be able to paint or polish it and use it anywhere in the house. Another small but important point to keep in mind is that while designing the kid’s bedroom decor, the furniture corners should be kept blunt. To avoid injury, say no to sharp edges.
Add storage
Whenever I take the brief from any client, I am always told to provide as much storage as I can before designing their room. How can we not have the same in the decor of the kid’s bedroom? Well, there are many ways to add storage without making it feel voluminous and boring. For example, you can add a rack below that consists of closed storage while the rest of it may have shelves (make sure that you don’t go with glass). Other than that, you should buy a cabinet that is mostly closed and consists of shelves in-between. You might put books, miniature toys and even soft toys to add fun and color to the decor of the children’s bedroom.
Hanging wall art
Hanging wall art on the walls makes the space more quirky and lighter in no time. To build the wall’s decor through artworks, choose cute prints or their favorite cartoon character. You can either place them on the plain painted wall or against the subtle wallpaper on the wall. Make sure that you have the background that is light or in pastel shades, as this will allow the artwork to be highlighted rather than mixed with it.
